Jailbreaking, possibly illegal in the US come 2012

So here we go again. FIrst SOPA and now a possible change to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act or DMCA that would make jail breaking your device illegal. Write the copyright office and voice your concerns.

Personally I don’t jailbreak my phone as the pure Apple experience on my phone is good enough. I don’t really need the aggravation of jail breaking and wondering if my phone my fail and turn into a brick. But, I do believe that the end user should be able to tinker with their phone as long as they aren’t hurting anyone or reselling original content.

Those who count on quote ‘Hollywood’ for support need to understand that this industry is watching very carefully who’s going to stand up for them when their job is at stake. Don’t ask me to write a check for you when you think your job is at risk and then don’t pay any attention to me when my job is at stake.

You gotta love the threats from this guy. Kind of gives you an idea how the entertainment industry and Congress negotiate, after all he was a U.S. senator.

Stop SOPA & PIPA!

I am not a fan of the proposal of the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) or Protect IP Act (PIPA). It gives the US government too much power to squelch our voice. Look at this video and write your congressman!

PROTECT IP / SOPA Breaks The Internet from Fight for the Future on Vimeo.

It’s no wonder the entertainment industry is losing money. They don’t know how to engage their customers through technology. Instead they help draft horrible bills such as SOPA and PIPA to combat piracy. Piracy will always be around. Make it easier for the customer to buy and use your product and sell it at a reasonable price and piracy will subside. Here’s My e-mail to Senator Bill Nelson (FL)

Just a quick message to you. I voted for you for what you stand for at the last election, but I am not happy to give government wide sweeping control of technology & the internet to be specific. The PIPA/SOPA bill that you co-sponsor is a bad idea. It seems this bill benefits just one corporate group, the entertainment industry. US Government already has the necessary tools and laws with the DMCA and other laws to target piracy. Please don’t target the freedom of speech of the internet.

It's about equal rights

Damnit, good for you Al Gore posting the below video at his website current.com. Gay man and women deserve the same rights that heterosexual couples receive plain and simple. Why is this hard for people to understand?

The simple quote says it all

Shouldn’t we be promoting faithfulness and loyalty to one’s partner regardless of sexual orientation?
