They used a hi-power remote that disables nearby television displays in the vicinity.

While I admit that the video is funny and I like a good joke. I could only imagine being the frustrated presenter from Motorola standing up on a platform facilitating and talking about my product and then the video goes out, repeatedly. Did Gizmodo cross the line? I think so. It was down right discourteous doing so to the facilitator relying on the televisions to give a presentation. Would they like it if a hacker repeatedly changed their website and exacted denial of service attacks threatening their livelihood and ad-click revenue? More then likely not.

How does this reflect on the blogger community as well? Hell, we all look like a bunch of 13 year old punks and childish pranksters. Forget even being invited to next year’s show.

On the other hand considering that the show is all about electronics and technology what the hell were the manufacturers thinking when they didn’t block the infrared port of the televisions? I’m surprised this hasn’t happened before. Still, not cool Gizmodo.
